How do I make my profile public? [Sorry, we can't publish your public profile with your last name hidden.]

I've read a lot of discussion threads that I should go to settings and show my full name or make it public or make my "display name" (which I can't find) the same as my real name. I've tried everything but it just won't work.

Every time I want to make my profile public this message appears:
"Sorry, we can't publish your public profile with your last name hidden."

Any suggestions?

Go to the following:

Also, go to the following:

https://www.linkedin.com/profile/public-profile-settings

When the webpage displays make sure your public profile is visible to "Everyone".

  1. Found a solution: Go to your main profile page and click the pencil button by your name to edit your name. A drop down box will be available to change your display name. Change it from "John D." to "John Doe." Now go back and update your public profile.
