I made a thread a week or two ago about a similar issue with my Lenovo t410 laptop. Perhaps it can be helpful to you:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=105069

I installed Wheezy from a net install. I noticed two things that must occur to get wireless

(1) apt-get install build-essentials
(2) Do not use wicd (wireless), and do not use xdm (log in manager). Instead use network-manager-gnome and lightdm

Can you post the results of going to terminal and:
(1) lspci (what your device is)
(2) lsmod (if your driver is actually installed)
(3) iwlist scan (if your system is pickign up wireless)

Unfortunately I found very little help from these forums as you can see from my thread. I am not experienced with Linux but I can share with you anything that comes to my head (although my thread explains most of what I will tell you anyway) :p
I have fumbled my way through this Lenovo wireless + switchable graphics business to a clean & fairly minimal OS.

EDIT: If iwlist scan says something about no interfaces and you are using Network Manager, I think your manager must be connected somehow...
