Interesting--never knew about the different ingredient.
Personally, I buy pronamel because it's one of the few toothpastes on the market without Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLES), which are foaming agents used in a lot of stuff. Not because I think it's poison or causes cancer. But because for me it tends to cause canker sores. Now that I don't use products with SLS/SLES in them I rarely get sores anymore.
Note for anyone confused... canker sores are different than herpes/cold sores. This is... mind blowing to me. I have suffered from canker sores most of my life, up until the last ~5 years. My dentist gave me a sample of ProNamel and it worked absolute wonders for my sensitive teeth. I never knew about SLS until this post, and realized that I've had canker sores maybe once or twice in that time. Who knows if it's this for sure, but great info. Thanks!
If you are in USA, don't waste your money. The sensodyne pronamel was supposed to have Novamin which strengthens the enamel. It is found in all pronamel except the ones in USA. They bought the company that developed Novamin. In USA there was a dispute with FDA as to what they can claim and so the USA tooth paste are the same as the cheaper ones. Look at the ingredients. If you want the one with Novamin, get one from UK or Canada. You can get it on Amazon. Look for UK packaging.

The same thing happened to Colgate pro relief. Their ingredient was Pro-Argin. You can get the UK version.
Many dentist might have read some international journal but they might not have looked at the details. Navamin and pro-argnin were major development in dentistry. The Novamin-containing variation can also be had from India via eBay. Novamin has been clinically shown (not merely studied - shown) to be significantly better than fluoride at repairing enamel and strengthening teeth.
Also, regarding fluoride, only the Repair and Protect line of Sensodyne contains stannous fluoride. The others, as is the case with most toothpaste you buy, contain sodium fluoride or sodium monofluorophosphate ("MFP") which are effective for protection of teeth, but do not do anything about the bacteria in your mouth that cause decay, bad breath and gum disease. Stannous fluoride kills that bacteria and addresses the root cause of many of the oral/dental problems we face, especially as we get older.
